7Foreigners continue to choose Italy: the demand for the purchase of a property in the Belpaese has grown again in 2018 with an increase of 8.38 percent. It emerges from the annual report of 2018 of the portal Gate-away.com, which monitors requests from over 150 countries, and notes how they have risen to 1 million and 500 thousand users who have searched home in Italy (+ 12.68% compared at 2017).

The top ranking among the regions with the most requests are Tuscany, the undisputed queen for years; Puglia, which exceeds Lombardy (third place) and becomes second; then there are Liguria and Abruzzo, which jumped to 5th place (it was at 7th in 2017) registering a +28.14 percent. Following Sardinia, Sicily, Piedmont, Umbria and Calabria with a + 45.23% for the first time enters the ranking of the top 10 regions.

The average value of the property for foreigners is 352,456 euros with an increase in demand towards a price range ranging from 0 to 100 thousand (+ 16.6%) and from 100 to 250 thousand (+ 14.98%).

The typical buyer is aged between 55 and 64, a high degree of study and seeks on average independent properties ready to be inhabited.

If the first nation in 2017 was Germany, this 2018 saw a substantial increase in requests from the United States (+ 30.51%), which rises to first place, and of the United Kingdom (+ 18.26%) earns the second position. On the other hand, Germany comes third, then we have Italy (requests for foreign users while they are in Italy), France, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland and Canada.
